Italian Adventure - Day 4

After our three days in Rome, we got our rental car, drove about 2  1/2 hours from Rome to the Naples area, and dropped off our stuff at our apartment in Pompeii.  Then we were off to explore the ancient city of Pompeii, which was buried under 13-20 feet of volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in AD79 (thank you, Wikipedia).

Benicio just loved his little information booklet about Pompeii.  He kept stopping to look at it the whole time we were there.

Most of the ancient city had sidewalks (obviously not ancient) on the left and right side of the original road, but there were some parts without sidewalk, which was very difficult with the stroller.

Stopping yet again to look at his booklet.

And again. :)

As you can see, not too stroller friendly. ;)

Ooooh, puddles!

These columns were the perfect place for a little game of hide-and-seek.

Crazy to see where the road was worn down.

The boys got SO dirty in Pompeii!

At the top of some of the steps, Isandro would say, "Look mommy!  This is like a little bed!"
