Wexford, Day 2

After an awesome breakfast at our B&B, we headed to the Hook Peninsula (not far from where we were staying in Fethard) to see Hook Head Lighthouse, the oldest working lighthouse in the world!  We went to the lighthouse a couple months ago when we did our day trip to the Saltee Islands, but we were only there for a few minutes.  It was nice to go back, have a picnic lunch by the lighthouse, take a tour inside the lighthouse, and look at the amazing views.  The weather was amazing!

Driving to the lighthouse.

There were several signs warning to beware of the blow holes!

A gorgeous day for a picnic lunch!  That's Allie, her boys Knox and Abram, and Lina and Isandro.

Kids being kids.

Learning about whales.

Peeking out one of the windows in the lighthouse during our tour.

Lina always willing to help our her brother when he's not quite tall enough!

This was the view from the balcony of the lighthouse!

Do you see that crazy person in the red jacket??!

My littles and me. <3

Next, we took the kids to Johnstown Castle Gardens.  Such amazing weather and the kids had a lot of fun running around, climbing trees, playing with mossy lake water, and peeking in and out of towers!

It was close to dinner time, and we wanted to check out the village of Kilmore Quay.  We'd been to Kilmore Quay a couple months ago, but just in enough time to get on our little boat to go to the Saltee Islands, so there wasn't much time to explore the town.  I think I fell in love with all the thatched roof cottages!  So charming...

A thatched roof in progress.
