Moms & Kids take over Co. Wexford! Day 1

Manuel and a few of his guy friends went to France for the weekend to do their guys history/war trip, so my friend Allie and I decided to spend the weekend in Wexford County.  We stayed 2 nights in a great B&B (I meant to get a picture of it but forgot!!) and did a ton of exploring with the kids.  We totally lucked out with pretty amazing weather, with a few spots of rain in between.  Our first stop was Ferns Castle...

My little puddle stomper with his partner in crime, Abram.

After the fun of exploring Ferns Castle, we headed to the Irish National Heritage Park, which was amazing!  Such a neat park with interesting history, and fun "tasks" for the kids to complete along the way.

One of the tasks for the kids to do along the way... trying to move a 2-ton boulder... needless to say, Allie wasn't getting too much help from the kiddos, although they tried!  It was really interesting because the sign was telling about how they most likely moved heavy boulders to build the dolmens (tombs).  Some were as much as 200 tons!  Even if they were able to get the boulders onto rollers, how in the world did they manage to prop them on top of one another???

Another task: take the stones and help create a picture in the stone.

"Ta-da!"  He's the king of the world!

Lina's favorite task: pan for gold!  She did find a small piece (I think it was bronze though, not gold). :)

She was so excited to find a piece of gold!
