Yom Kippur

From sundown on Yom Kippur Eve to sundown the next day, the whole country literally shuts down.  NO cars on the roads, no restaurants, business, or shops are open.  Even the airport closes.  It's a day of rest and people spend time with their families, and hit the open roads of course!  So that's just what we did, and I have to say it has been my favorite day in Israel so far.  It was a totally surreal feeling riding our bikes on the usually congested streets and freeways, and SO MUCH FUN!

And we're off!

Just at the end of the main road that goes into our town, we're about to turn left.

Heading towards one of the motorways!

Just turned on to the on-ramp for the motorway.

Isandro is pointing which way he wants to go next!

Go ahead and take your time picking up your bike, Isandro.  Good thing no cars are on the roads today!

Even Yehuda, where we live in Israel.

The kids and I waited here because Isandro was too tired to keep riding, and Benicio wanted to ride the bike, but the seat was too high.  Manuel had to go home to get the wrench so he could lower the seat for Benicio.  Kids are having an apple snack break. :)

Keeping an eye out for dada.

This picture was taken while the kids and I were messing around on the huge round about that is near our house and the school.  This is the main road that goes in and out of Even Yehuda.  So strange to see no cars on it!

Our street sign.
